1. William Woodward
William Woodward, a surveyor from Connecticut, purchased 120 acres of land in Cincinnati. After marrying Abigail Cutter in 1803, Woodward built their starter home which, after William Woodward’s death, was demolished in 1912 and rebuilt as the new motion picture theater named in his honor.
2. An expansion project
In 2013, the MOTR Pub saw potential in the Woodward Theater which stood directly across the street. Already one of the best small live music venues in the city, the owners of the MOTR bought the theater and began to renovate it. After being brought into the 21st century, the theater reopened as a formal events and performance space.
